Reflection: The Outsiders

Filed under: Uncategorized —— Leo @ 12:00 pm

When I first heard that we were going to do a final project with the kids in Snow Lake on the book we were reading, The Outsiders, I was all jazzed; just collaborating with them was a first I haven’t seen anywhere else. So I was excited that we were going to do the project with the kids on the other side. But in like in everything in the world, things didn’t translate from paper to reality as well as I planned. At first I enjoyed the idea of working with my partner in
Canada, but then I wasn’t quite as excited as I was. At first, there were technical difficulties, and I wasn’t the only one, so I just blamed the computer. But then when we got that fixed, supposedly, the problem was still there. So, know the problem was that we couldn’t communicate with our partner in
Canada. So the problem was that, with lack of communication we couldn’t talk with our Canadian counterpart, so the project ended up being turned in a little late. Best part in the project, filming the videos with my partner here in
California. Cool experience, better for later on in my working life, and all in all, no grudge and cool project.

THe Outsider: Chp 11-12

Filed under: Uncategorized —— Leo @ 1:32 am

The word i think is best for these 2 chapters is friendship. i chose this word for these 2 chapters because a lot of ordeals have passed and now the gang has to keep together and tighten their friendship. they had to unite to come out of the ashes that they had gone through. Johnny died and so did Dally and Sodapop and Ponyboy might get seperated from Darry and have to go through court. and the only way they got through that was through friendship, even with the soc who makes friend with Ponyboy, Randy. And that is why i chose friendship.

The word that i chose for these 2 chapters is fear. I chose this word because it really does describe the 2 chapter. There was the rumble, and there was tension, probably even fear. They feared for because he might die and he does, and so does Dally. So that is why i chose the word fear

Power Questions

Filed under: Uncategorized —— Leo @ 8:25 am

A couple of weeks ago we were made to discuss some questions of power. but due to lack of something, the assignment was done wrong and here we are doing an assignment that would be okay if we did it right the first time.

Define power

That i belive is the word that if we knew what it meant it would have cinched the others for all of us. Let me try again. Power is a force or a might, something that has authority or control over someting. So power is to have autority, control over something, strenght, and a great force of something.

The Outsiders: Chapters 5-6

The word i think that goes with these 2 chapters is survival. i think that the word really does relate with the chapters in The Outsiders because both Johnny and Ponyboy have to survive in Jay mountain alone after they killed a Soc. So they have to survive alone and not get caught by the police for manslaughter. So the 2 boys all alone are there in the abandoned church in order to escape from the law. And also Johnny has to survive breaking his back and suffering major burns from rescuing the kids that were burning in the church.

The Outsiders Chp. 3-4

Filed under: Uncategorized —— Leo @ 12:02 pm

The word I used to describe chapters 3 and 4 of The Outsiders was volatile. Volatile means highly changeable, fickle, just like in the book. for example, in chapter 3, Ponyboy and compony go to the movies, chill out, relax, having fun. Then all of a sudden it jumps to Johnnys house, parents are fighting in the house, Darry hitting Ponyboy. And Ponyboy and Johnny getting jumped by Socs and Johnny kills a Soc. So it changes from a mellow atmosphere to a violent vibe. It doesnt stay in one place for to long.

My Thoughts: The Beginning

Filed under: Uncategorized —— Leo @ 12:10 pm

Family is a word i think goes with the book we are readin, The Outsiders. In the beginnig of the book, Ponyboy is jumped by the Socs, the richer kids from the West side. His friend come and help him after he screams for help, saving him. It shows that their gang is not only friends, but they have a family like relationship. They all are there for each other, supporting in times of need. They help each other out when help is needed, they are all there for each other. They are like family, looking out for one another, are together and stick up for each other, no matter what.

The Veldt: The Final

Filed under: Uncategorized —— Leo @ 1:53 pm

What kind of relationships do you see in the Veldt?

How is Power displayed?

The relationships that were shown in The Veldt are parent and child relations. There are the parents, who bought the house and the room. And the children who love living in a mechanical house where their every whim is obeyed. But the relationship with the kids and the parents is not a healthy one. The parents have spoiled their children, giving the kids everything, they let themselves be replaced by the house. And the kids act as if they are the adult, and talk to their parents as if they are the parent, having no respect for their parents. The kids replace the house and the room in place of their parents, so that parent child relationship is barely visible. The relationships in the story are obvious, the kids are more attached to the house and the dream room then they are to their own parents. The room now has control of the room, and theat relationship that the kids have with the room is that they gave the room power, and power over them.
